What’s a hour more or less? That’s exactly what Professor Tim Olds from the University of South Australia’s School of Health Sciences is trying to find out.
When people were offered an hour more a day, whether spaced out or all at once, the time usage varied amongst those surveyed. "People say you could sleep more, watch less TV, spend more time with family," Professor Olds said in an interview to The Australian.
But when faced with the prospect of a 23 hour day, people found the choice harder to make and opted to take the time out of their sleep. More time was spent working, with people opting to put in more screen time at home than at the office.
The idea for the study originated when the discussion of a new exercise program came about in Professor Olds’ department, and people argued over the best way to fit it into their already busy day.
Professor Olds claims that the study is yet to be completed, and more people were needed to take part in the research.
What would you do if given a 25 hour day? Vote in our poll below!
