Contrary to common belief, The Project doesn’t use any kind of pre-recorded laugh track. The laughs you hear on our show are actual human people, laughing because they’re having an actual good time. You could be one of those people. And your friends could be two, three or four of those people.
Why would you want to be in The Project studio audience? An excellent question – I can tell you’re an intelligent, discerning viewer hypothetical viewer. Well, because it’s fun, it’s free, and best of all, you get to see the whole show a fraction of a second before the rest of Australia.
Plus you get to see the cast and crew in action, hear some exclusive behind-the-scenes comedy from Hughesy, and also, there’s lollies. Lollies are a big thing here.
Here’s what you need to know.
WHERE: We are based in South Yarra, in Melbourne. (Everyone else: As soon as we take the show on the road, we promise you’ll be the first to know.)
WHEN: Once you’ve booked, you just have to show up no later than 5:50pm on your allocated day. The show's over by 7:30pm, and you should be out of there about 15 minutes after that.
HOW MUCH $$?: Tickets to be in our studio audience are absolutely free. No catches, no asterisks, no hidden fees or monthly payments. All we ask is that you book in advance, and if you can’t make it, to let us know as soon as possible so we can reallocate your seats.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Just come prepared for a good time. It’s exactly like watching the show at home, just with a bit more clapping. (Of course that depends how much clapping you already do at home.) But you’ll also have a chance to ask the team questions and maybe win a prize or two. A friendly member of our warm-up team will be with you the whole night to make sure you’re relaxed and comfortable – like your own personal flight attendant, but without a liquor license.
FINE PRINT: You need to be at least 16 years old. Due to high demand, you must book in advance. You’ll receive confirmation and a booking number, and we do ask that once you’ve confirmed you make a genuine effort to be here and on time. For safety reasons all audience members must wear closed-toed shoes.
AWESOME. SIGN ME UP! Just email audience@theprojecttv.com.au and let us know what date you’d like to come.
It’s just that simple. Don’t just be a face in the crowd – be a voice on the soundtrack as well!
And remember: The Project is currently the only news program in the world with a live audience (all the other news shows use canned laughter – even 60 Minutes.)
