Webber was leading the Turkish Grand Prix with 18 laps to go when Vettel made his risky attempt to snatch front spot.

The collision put Vettel out of the race and Webber was unable to reclaim the lead.

He finished in third spot behind McLaren duo, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, but kept his grip on the overall championship lead.

Though angry at the time of the crash, Vettel later admitted: "I had the corner so I was trying to focus on the braking and I lost the car."

Webber remained gallant, despite being denied the win.

"Neither one of us wants to make contact with each other, but it can happen sometimes.

"It's never ideal but it happened."
