The expression goes that anyone who represents themselves in court has an idiot for a lawyer and a fool for a client.

But people are being giving a hand to do just that through the Law Assist project, launched as part of Law Week.

The program is targeted at those with debt problems, involved in driving bingles or escaping domestic violence.

Part of the course includes tips on court etiquette, including what to wear and how to address the judge.
