The Mt Carmel College student has spent an hour each day learning and mastering his freestyle tricks on the timeless toy since discovering his passion for it via the internet in 2008.
"The tricks don’t really have names, they’re not really your around-the-world type of thing – they’re complicated to explain; I just make up my own combinations," Ho told The Advertiser.
"My friends thought I was a bit of a loser for what I was doing at first, but now they think it’s pretty wicked."
Ho won $1,500 worth of prizes in the national titles and is now saving for a ticket to August's World Yoyo Contest in Florida.
