The controversial comedian, notorious for her acid-tongue, posted a running commentary of the awards night on Twitter.
"I do so hope Bindi Irwin gets laid," read one post, which she defends as a critique of raunch culture, child stardom and the red carpet's objectification of women.
She also caused outrage with her comment that "Rove and Tasma look so cute ... hope she doesn't die, too."
Deveny says she was dumped for "swearing … and making grown-up jokes" which were taken out of context.
She also says writing on Twitter is completely different to writing a newspaper column, comparing it with passing notes around the classroom.
"Do you think that somebody who has written over 600 columns should be sacked for two lines on Twitter?" she asked ABC Radio host Jon Faine this morning.
