Williams is serving 35 years behind bars for his role in the murders of several Melbourne underworld figures.

The Herald Sun has obtained a letter written by the Victorian Government Solicitor's Office which shows police paid for his daughter to attend a prestigious private school.

The letter also contains an offer to pay off the $750,000 debt owed by Williams' father to the tax department.

The paper says it cannot reveal why the payment was made, and says authorities are unwilling to explain their largesse.

The president of Crime Victims Support Association, Noel NcNamara, says the support given to Williams and his family is an outrage.

"They say the underworld looks after their own, but now it seems force command has taken the view we've got to look after them too," he told the paper.

"Are they going to pay the university fees as well?"
